There is a fine line between substance abuse and addiction. It’s easy to cross that line without becoming fully aware of it. Remember when you used to take pain pills for a few days, and then just stop taking them without thinking about it?

You didn’t focus on how you felt, the withdrawal, and the emotional pain. The reason being – you probably weren’t aware that you could get withdrawal from pain medication. Maybe you were like many people who viewed pain medication like anything else – a simple prescription from a doctor that you really did not want to take.
